About me

Apart from being a journalist and a translator, I am a presenter focusing on events of a high social prestige and, in a number of cases, of an international character. I belong to activites in which content and form are well balanced. To a concert which is considered the event. To a grants or prizes awarding ceremonies. To a presentation by a respected company. To a conference or a workshop which need to be guided independently. It is during such occasions that I am able to make use of my know how acquired in my other professions. Due to some experience in interpreting and translating, I have a good command of English and certain knowledge of French. Being a screenplay writer, I can create my verbal presentations by myself. And thanks to my years of radio and tv presenting, I am able to improvise. Lat but not least, my media managing jobs  have taught me to concentrate on important message and neglect an unimportant information. I believe my task is simply to forward content while arousing emotions.

As a young man, I studied linguistics and graduated from the Charles University in Prague. But later on my professional interest shifted towards mediology. I have written
a couple of books, contributed  to many magazines  and presented scores of radio and tv programmes. For a number of years I served as a manager in public media. On stage, I am able to use English fluently; I also speak some French. Among my hobbies are sport, literature, music, history, nature, dogs and... people. I believe in what an American writer Betty MacDonald once remarked: „Life is not what we want but what we have“. And I am pleased to read, at least occasionally, words like this: „Interesting content, adequate eloquence and, last but not least, a touch of soft humor…that´s what the presentation of Mr. Jiří Vejvoda, radio and tv journalist, contained…he contributed to the New Year´s Concert of  the Russian Tradition Associaton with professionalism and easiness…and was awarded by huge applause in the end…“ (monthly Russian Word, No. 2/2012, p. 9)
